how to get married in NYC

(A simple & accurate guide from an officiant)

If you live in the US

& getting married in NYC

1. Schedule an appointment with the City Clerk's Office for a date that works for you. Please note: You will receive the marriage license at this appointment. 24 hours must pass after you have received it before you can get married. If either of you has been married before please have the divorce documents with you. Also, have a credit card (35$) and your ID's.

These in-person appointments for the marriage license are released every Monday at 9 am EST. Keep an eye on the clock, because some weeks they are gone before you know it.

You are also able to schedule a virtual appointment here. Both of you must be physically in NY for this appointment.
